Safety Tips

Follow these safety tips to insure careful, responsible mobile phone use on the road.

*Assess traffic:

Before placing or receiving calls, make sure that you are fully aware of all traffic conditions.

*Buddy system:

Ask one of the passengers in your care to dial phone numbers for you.

*Best time to dial:

If possible, pull over to the side of the road to place phone calls. Another option is to make calls when you're stopped either at a traffic light or stop sign.

*Dial, pause, dial:

There's no need to dial an entire sequence of numbers at once. Dial only a few numbers, assess the traffic situation, then return to dialing - and repeat this proceses until the complete number has been dialed.

*Proper installation:

Be sure the handset is installed within reach for your individual driving comfort and safety. Plus, you might want to consider the convenience and safety of an optional handsfree speakerphone. With it, you can carry on a conversation and keep both hands on the steering wheel.

*Dialing 911:

If the need arises to dial 911, remember that your location is unknown to the dispatcher. Be sure to give the dispatcher your precise location, direction of travel, names of nearby streets, or any other specific landmarks.
