VANU, INC. WINS AWARD FOR
MID-TEX CELLULAR'S SOFTWARE RADIO
Vanu, Inc. received the 2005 GSM Association Technology Innovation award at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France. The 3GSM World Congress is the world’s largest gathering of telecom operators, handset manufacturers and mobile operating systems, services and applications’ vendors.
The Vanu Anywave Base Station was selected as Best Network Infrastructure which is an award for the best leading edge, cost effective infrastructure or network solution that enhances networks for service performance, benefiting mobile network operators. Vanu, Inc. was nominated for the award based upon the leading edge GSM Radio Access Network deployed in Mid-Tex Cellular’s wireless network in summer 2004.
Since May 1991, Mid-Tex Cellular has been and is the only locally owned wireless service provider in the area. Mid-Tex Cellular, a limited partnership, is controlled by Comanche County Telephone Company, Inc. in De Leon, with partner Central Texas Telephone Cooperative, Inc. in Goldthwaite. Customer care centers are located in De Leon and Brownwood for customer convenience.
